Groups

Sustainable Wellesbourne
Sustainable Wellesbourne is a group of residents and councillors working together to address the Climate and Nature Emergency and support the Climate Emergency Statement made by the Wellesbourne and Walton Parish Council in 2022. There is a small Steering Group and a much wider email mailing list from which transient project Focus Groups and volunteers come to help carry out events and actions towards this common goal.
To be on the email mailing list please contact: sustainablewellesbourne@wellesbourneandwalton-pc.gov.uk
Wellesbourne and Walton Parish Council have reduced their mowing in parts of the Village where they have control to allow wildflowers to flourish. This was in response to suggestions from one of our group. They support ad hoc events by Sustainable Wellesbourne which aim to raise awareness and engage with the Community.
Recent Projects & Initiatives
Open Gardens for Wildlife
This was set up by a group of like-minded gardeners – with really different gardens. They open their gardens to visitors to share what they do for and what they enjoy in terms of wildlife in their gardens. This happens in Late Spring or Early Summer. Other Community Spaces are also involved – not always the same ones each year.
We first did this in 2024 and expanded to two days and advertised nationally in the second year. The money raised goes in part to local Wildlife supporting charities and in part for future, Nature-friendly projects in the Wellesbourne Parish. We have a Zip file of Notes and Notices for anyone wishing to see how we go about it. Please contact via the SW email address for a copy.

Local Climate and Nature Action Plan
Sustainable Wellesbourne is working with the Parish Council to put together a Local Climate and Nature Action Plan. In Feb 2026 a draft document will be open for Consultation with the local Community both in person and online. The aim is to have a final version ready in the late Spring, from which prioritised Actions and Projects can be detailed, drawn up and executed. Details can be accessed via the PC website.
