International Rivers Day, 14th March 2026

Free Event at Shipston Riverside (Bridge Car Park CV36 4AW)
- Join in a River Blessing Ceremony by our local Druid, Martin Russell, at 11.00am
- See display by Shipston Area Flood Action Group (S.A.F.A.G.) – all day
- See display about Water Power and the many historic Watermills on the River Stour – all day
- Learn about the weekly Water Quality Testing (SafeAvon Citizen Science) that takes place by the bridge, and safely have a go – 11.30am and 1.30pm
- Learn how to safely carry out Kick-Sampling in the shallow water by the bridge; learn how to identify the invertebrates present, and why they are so important for understanding the general health of the river; meet Alex Jones of Riverfly Monitoring Project – 11.30am and 1.30pm
- Enjoy some ‘water’ music by ‘Misspent Ukes’, our local U3A ukulele band, at lunchtime
- Bring a picnic and wear weather-proof clothes!
