SUMMARY:Art for Sale in the Longhouse
DESCRIPTION:Over the years\, a number of works of art have been donated to The Friends of Sun Rising\, to be sold in aid of the charity.  Many of the artists are either local\, or have already been laid to rest here in the natural burial ground.  Other pieces have been donated by those connected with Sun Rising in other ways. \nOver this weekend in August\, the art will be on display in the Longhouse and available to buy.  Please do have a look a the gallery below.  The price of each piece can be found in the gallery – they range from £10 to over £300.  Offers will be accepted for some of the pieces.  Every penny of each sale goes direct to The Friends of Sun Rising. \nIf you are unable to attend over the weekend\, you can buy online.  Simply email friends@sunrising.co.uk if you’d like to make a purchase or make an offer. \nThere will be refreshments throughout the day.

SUMMARY:Birdsong\, Spring Migrants and the Pond’s Wildlife
DESCRIPTION:Event by Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground and Nature Reserve \nAfter the hard work of digging the extension to our pond last autumn\, watching it fill as the rains came in early winter\, we’re now ready for an official opening! \nWe’ll start by walking along the boundary hedges\, listening to the spring birdsong\, looking out for spring migrants\, pausing at the swift tower. At the the pond\, we’ll be looking at its spring flora and fauna\, exploring pondlife (in the dipping pond)\, and talking about the wildlife that will benefit from the larger area of water\, such as swifts\, dragonflies and bats. SUMMARY:Tysoe's Photography Competition 2026
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe theme is Wild Warwickshire and photographs submitted must be taken in Warwickshire since 2024. \nWe are seeking photographs of flora and fauna in the wild\, including plants\, fungi\, wild mammals\, birds\, insects and so on; images of pets\, farm animals or animals in captivity are not eligible. Images featuring people will not be considered. \nThe images selected will be used to make a calendar for 2027.  This calendar will go on sale at the end of 2026 with proceeds used to support wildlife projects in the Parish of Tysoe. \nThe Entry Conditions set out here should be read and the Entry Form below completed.  Completed forms should be returned to tysoewildlife@gmail.com \n

DESCRIPTION:JOIN OUR TYSOE MURMURATION . . .\nThe idea is to bring our various nature and wildlife interests together under one big roof to discuss plans for the year ahead. That way we can keep the focus on nature and encourage more people to get involved. Our aim is to celebrate and value the wildlife that surrounds us. Simple\, everyday wildlife.\nWe hope that together we can develop our own Tysoe Almanac – a series of wildlife events\, talks\, activities and projects which take place throughout the year focused on wildlife\, whether that’s:\n\n\n\nTaking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch\nMaking and putting up bird boxes\nListening to the dawn chorus at the Natural Burial Ground\nSupporting No Mow May\nFilling in gaps in hedgerows\nPlanting for pollinators and bats\nCutting openings in garden fences for hedgehogs to pass through\nStaging a BioBlitz to find plants\, animals and fungi\, etc at the Community Orchard\nHolding wildlife workshops for children in the summer holidays . .\n\n\n\nThere’s a whole host of things that we can all do to make space for wildlife. You may have some suggestions of your own which you would like to share.\n\n\nOur aim is the same as the illustrator Jackie Morris states in The Lost Words\, “created as a hope\, to re-engage an interest\, to refocus the mind’s eye\, to celebrate the nearby wild and awaken a sense of wonder and awe for the amazing planet we live on.”\n\n\nPLEASE MAKE A NOTE IN YOUR DIARIES AND COME JOIN US!
